Introduction
The technology in this auditorium required an upgrade that the size and quality of projection image shall be enhanced to properly accommodate everyone sitting in the venue. Pertinent factors to be considered were system infrastructure, height of the stage and size of the screen.
System Backbone & Projection System
The AV infrastructure had to support local HDMI source signals and enable signal extension up to 100 meters between endpoints from a centrally located equipment rack at the control room. The projection system deployed a compact 20,000 lumens solid shine laser projector with projection image size increased from 300" to 380".
Multi-window Processor
A four window HDCP-compliant multi-window processor was used to enable simultaneous display of multiple images on a single screen. It accepted graphics and video content from one or more HDMI sources. The process ensured fast and reliable signal switching among the various sources.
Streaming Solution
The streaming media processor with both internal solid-state storage and network storage enabled event capture and recording for live streaming and video on demand. It also simultaneously captured AV source content of different resolutions and scales these images.
Auto Tracking Camera
It served as a virtual camera operator to simplify operation significantly. It tracked the presenter smoothly, keeping them accurately framed and sharply focused as they move.
Conclusion
HKBU CIE redeveloped the audiovisual system to create seamless experience with high visual quality. This improved the reliability and operating efficiency of the AV system in support of information dissemination and activities on campus.
