With two new luxury hotels, over 100,000sq m of retail space and an expanding gaming capacity by up to 500 tables, the second phase of Galaxy Macau has been tagged the newest, and only truly authentic Asian five-star resort destination in Macau. Hong Kong-based full-service solutions provider, BAP Technology Consultants Limited, was commissioned to install the lighting systems throughout the public areas, the restaurants, the casinos, the executive offices, as well as the new 1,300-key JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels.

At 1.0 million sq ft, the project stands out for more than just its architectural design. Galaxy Macau is in fact a mini-city that mimics the culture and vibe of Las Vegas. The design, which features lighting solutions from several renowned designers from the world over, has helped create an ideal environment for guests to enjoy unparalleled prestige and luxury in Macau.

BAP applied the Lutron HWI system in all the restaurants in the second phase. From Fook Lam Moon and Northern Noodle, to the fancier Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott poolside bars and all-day dining areas. The Lutron HWI system adjusts the lighting environment according to a preset schedule, depending on the time of day. The shift is gradual and can take as long as an hour, creating different ambient moods for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The Lutron HWI system was also mounted in the event halls and ballrooms. Owing to the highly flexible nature of the space, the system was installed to switch and dim up to 10,000 various lighting zones. It also provides central control and reset of lighting scenes to match different events and venue arrangements.

For the massive casino area, where the main action takes place, the lighting is controlled by Lutron central lighting control system which ensures the stability of light output with its patented built-in Real Time Illumination Stability System (RTISS^TM). A built-in timer in the system adjusts the lighting automatically. Additionally, it can also prolong the lifespan of light bulbs, which allows for casinos to run around the clock without incurring any loss of business. Lutron’s central control lighting system is well-designed to operate 24/7 with zero downtime.
